Intimate with Erica: "Best of Aspen & Palm Springs"
Posted by: Erica Rose on Feb 22, 2010
Hello Jet-setters! I’m lucky enough to have homes in both Aspen and Palm Springs! I spent some time in each city this past month so if you’re looking for the perfect get-away this is your guide.
ASPEN
In my opinion, Aspen is a great place for singles!!! Couples can come and play too, but I was there over V-Day and chose to make it a single’s trip, so here is what I did and recommend.
EAT: Matsuhisa (Nobu’s sushi restaurant), or Elevation PLAY/Shop: The Caribou Club – it is members only and they do a great dinner, plus ladies it is a total meat market-yum!!! If you can’t get in there or want something more low-key try Eric’s.
During the day I hit the slopes of Aspen mountain in my Prada ski outfit which I bought at the Prada store in Aspen (great shopping- Fendi, Ralph Lauren…). For those of you posers who don’t ski, buy a cute outfit at Gorsch and rife the Gondola up to the Sundeck on Aspen MT for some lunch. Also après-ski at the Little Nell hotel is a must.
I’m a member of the Aspen Club and Spa which is like the Houstonian Aspen style, they do great massages and the Pilates class is the perf way to stretch after skiing, plus healthy café.
STAY? : If you don’t have a home there try the St. Regis or the Little Nell…even the Hotel Jerome will do.
PALM SPRINGS
This is the perfect couples trip. Girls you can shop and spa while the men golf! I’d say go with another couple so you will each have a shopping- golf partner. Being the single gal that I am- I hit up the town with my gay bf Peter and two of my girlfriends.
EAT: Pacifica (they have the best seafood) or LG’s Prime Steakhouse- we Texans love a good steak, lol! For Brunch, try JC's Patio Cafe on El Paseo. Golf/Shop: the Westin Mission Hills golf course- it is also a great place to stay and they have an amazing spa! Plus hot golf and tennis pros. More options: Dessert Willow Golf Resort in Palm Desert.
Shop: Hit up the stores on El Paseo- they have anything you could possibly want and more!!! Also great restaurants and places to brunch. If you’re on a budget or just savvy like me hit up the Palm Dessert outlets! They have the same great stores: Prada, Gucci, St. John… and everything is at a discounted price. Hey if Gwen Stefani isn’t above shopping there, neither are you!
Play: The bar at the Viceroy is a great place for couples to grab drinks or if you’re with your gays or your girls hit up Hunter’s – a fab fun gay bar!!!
There it is my personal guide to doing these two cities right, now call your travel-agent or gas up that jet and get out of town- if you’re trying to avoid Rodeo Season like me, now is the perf time ;)
