Thursday, April 8th the polar ice rink in The Galleria transformed into a haute fashion mecca, and of course I had to be there to see it!  More than 800 fashionable Houstonians attended the evening cocktail party and fashion show kicking off "Simon Fashion Now" presented by Cadillac, a three day celebration of beauty and style.  The models from the Page Parks agency worked the runway in spring's hottest looks and I must say, the models were gorgeous HOT!  Immediately following the show, the party continued as select retailers like Neiman Marcus, Saks, Versace, Barneys, Carolina Herrara, and others hosted their own private and lavish parties.

RSVP is saying goodbye to the "dating diva" and we hope she finds a good home for her dating stories! Although she will be missed, this gives us the opportunity at RSVP to reassess the area of love and relationships and give our readers what they want. The feedback from the readers over the last few months has been "even though the dating diva was entertaining, she never seemed to have a successful relationship or get past the 3rd date-- if that" and they were tired of going in circles with her writing and reading about her less than successful relationships. What more can a girl who loves golf such as myself ask for in the month of April (As I took up serious golf since marrying "my favorite athlete"---& yes guys-- "scratch golfer Randy" and having our two "little pro-golfers in the making")!

Working for a society magazine has its perks.  I get to meet a lot of amazing people, dress up, and cover fabulous events around town.  Recently I sat down with Public Relations extraordinaire Judy Nichols, a woman who's got this gig down to a science.  She's been working the Houston social scene since the 1970's! 

Leslie: How long have you lived in Houston?

Judy: Over 35 years, I moved from Hong Kong. My brother and a friend lived here.There was not much going on here back then.

Leslie: How did you get into Public Relations?

Judy: I got in accidentally, at the time I was working for The Town & Country Sheraton in sales and marketing. I was asked to help promote several projects and it evolved over the years. It was self taught journalism.

The Houston Ballet Ball was an eye catching & surreal celebration Saturday night! The black tie gala indulged the senses with a complete transformation of the Wortham Theater Center in the "Surreal Movement" theme and raised a significant amount of funds... $784K to be exact. The Surreal evening was creative with details of chandelier clocks dangling from the ceiling, bright artful eyes beaming on the high walls and palm size eyeballs set in the center of floral arrangements. Along with great style and fashion in the mix this made for a distinct combination and fabulous evening!  Along with the great Jazz band and lively dancing, one of the main highlights of the evening was "What They Wore" and I was the lucky girl that got to play Fashion Police and everyone looked... I reiterate... STUNNING!:) Sorry Audrey, but there was no room for that safe and simple little black dress at this soiree, but the Big Black Dress made a nice showing. Top of the Empire State Building

After viewing Meg Ryan in “Sleepless in Seattle”, and Cary Grant waiting for Deborah Kerr in “An Affair to Remember”, I knew the 86th floor Observation Deck at The Empire State Building would be at the top of my list of romantic spots for my darling of 8 years and I. The Empire State Building is more than a quarter of a mile high, making it the third tallest skyscraper in the Americas. The Famously Whimsical 86th level deck was designed for the fascinating panoramic views of NYC. While a much smaller observation deck on the 102nd Floor also creates a memorable scene. Between the two decks, the building has had over 110 million guests to date and is still one of the most popular and romantic views in the world.

The couture lounge at Neiman's made for the perfect setting to host the Houston Chronicle’s “2010 Best Dressed” honoree unveiling cocktail reception.  Houston’s fashionable crowd gathered in all of their glam Tuesday night for this year’s announcement.

Houston Chronicle President and Publisher Jack Sweeney announced the lucky ladies.  I am proud to learn, all ten women have very impressive philanthropic resumes and devote much of their time to volunteering, which is one of the prerequisites to being chosen. They are all a fabulous testament to what this great Bayou City has to offer.

Emmy nominated actress Lucy Liu was appointed U.S. Fund for UNICEF Ambassador in 2005 and continues to maintain her title today. This was the first time she'd been invited to the states as Ambassador for UNICEF 2010 and as you can envision we were immensely delighted to have her as a guest in Texas!

The scene was Exotic Asian with a house full of Houston fashionistas supporting a great cause at Thursday nights soiree. The $1000 a plate Asian cuisine, impeccable décor, and lively band made for a fabulous party. This was the atmosphere for this year’s UNICEF gala, hosted at the stunning Tanglewood home of gracious host Becca Cason Thrash.

Last Wednesday I attended the opening of Houston's newest Parisian/New York inspired boutique, Coquette Boutique & Bistro in the Heart of Lower Westheimer! Bubbles were flowing and finger foods looked tasty! Girlies go by if you get a chance, lots of cute outfits to pair with your LOUBS. Check out the scene...

A fabulous ambiance is how it all started for "Moi"... Saturday evening---- Creative costumes, non-stop music, flowing conversations, great friends including my favorite girl and Texas Icon Dr. Carolyn Farb and last but not least... a delicious dinner at Mo's Steakhouse...

There was great music all night... speaking of fab music... Lady Bunny...NYC based DJ... knows her spinning... surpassing partygoers...

My costume was "Queen of Hearts"! As you can see with Lady Bunny and Bubba...one of my fav. local entertainers... here as "Divalicious"!..."Divalicious indeed"!

While on the dance floor... Room was full of playful and elaborate costumes everywhere in sight...

Later in the evening... I had a chance to hang out and chat with Monsour Taghidisi... as we talked business... I have to say I was impressed... He's a bright guy... I also admire how much respect he has for his life partner Christopher Mendel and speaks very highly of him... They so make one of the cutest couples!
